Beyond BIG DATA: Building a Business Intelligence Analytics Practice

https://www.hfma.org/Seminars/Contents/Sessions/San_Antonio/Beyond_Big_Data__Developing_a_Business_Intelligence_and_Analytics_Practice_(March_20-22)/

It is no secret - Provider organizations are grappling with current, and the future of, constrained payment.  Big Data is only one piece of the puzzle.   New more effective approaches to leveraging organizational data are needed for integrated delivery of care across a continuum of healthcare conditions and providers.

For this - new thinking about organizational Business Intelligence (BI) efforts is required.  BI must be strengthened with Analytics capabilities that include predictive analytic forecasting and become an organizational BI/Analytics practice.

Such an approach will more than identify internal trends of increasing costs and performance issues it will harness data to create forward looking information -- predictive and prescriptive--allowing highly sophisticated decision making that will become the heart of value-based service delivery systems ( operational, costing, etc. along with clinical care).

From this program onecan ---

·      Describe a robust BIcapability: requirements, methods, boundaries, and outcomes, including the essential elements of data, big data and data strategy, and use of relevant statistics to improve quality and decrease costs

·      Create a plan for simplifying data in order to amplify meaning and make better decisions

·      Identify methods for setting realistic expectations for analytics and data

·      Present data (data visualization) as information that will yield useful insights for those acting on that data, including clinicians and C-suite leaders

·       Create an individual plan for developing a robust analytics practice that uses data to strategically impact patient care, reduce costs, and improve quality in your organization
